LOVING OUR BODIES ~ LOVING OURSELVES (and btw Who Are We?)
A Support Group for Women Using Self-Inquiry with Sumitra Judith Burton

Many of us find it difficult to accept and love our bodies and the more subtle parts of ourselves, just as we are. We’ve struggled from early in life with critical judgments of our bodies, minds and abilities. We are skillful at caring for others, and yet often can’t find compassion and peace for ourselves. And some of us have spent so much time caring for others that we’re hardly in touch with who we really are.

How, in this moment NOW, can we find acceptance and even love for ourselves — embracing our bodies and everything else about us, exactly as we are? Can we truly meet and release old patterns of shame, anxiety, depression and other stuck beliefs that often stem from earlier trauma?

Join me in an exploration of this theme, using the Living Inquiries NOW Practice, the Simple Inquiry, and other tools to help us unwind the tangled beliefs we’ve acquired throughout our lives, and which are no longer serving us.

Each week we will share how self-inquiry is affecting our lives, we’ll take time to “rest” together, to practice Inquiry with various tools, and to share our current personal experiences. In this way we can become proficient at Self-Inquiry and gradually unravel our old, stuck beliefs about the different aspects of ourselves, relaxing into a more natural state of self-acceptance and compassion. As well, the community spirit that arises from such sharing can be very supportive in our healing journey.

We provide professional facilitation to support and educate all family members about everyone’s role in addiction. Our online group program is not simply learning about ideas and terminology. We integrate a sophisticated family systems approach with a weekly practice group which enables the whole family to change. The chances of a newly sober family member remaining symptom-free is exponentially increased if the whole family is involved in treatment and engaging in new behaviors. Addiction is a family affair and everyone benefits from learning and growth.

In order to become a more functional sober family and support sobriety for the long-term, families benefit from not only learning the theory behind what makes family’s function better, but also learning about the anxiety that motivates their helping behavior.
